Eid-ul-Fitr 2026: How to Get State Bank Fresh Currency Notes via SMS

Lahore-As the festive spirit of Eid-ul-Fitr 2026 approaches, the demand for state bank fresh currency notes has surged across Pakistan. To facilitate the public and ensure a smooth distribution process, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has released official guidelines for citizens to obtain crisp, new banknotes for their “Eidi” traditions.

How to Get New Currency Notes for Eid 2026

The State Bank has traditionally utilized a digital SMS-based system to manage the high demand. For 2026, the SBP has streamlined the process through designated “e-branches” of commercial banks.

  1. The SMS Service: Citizens can send their 13-digit CNIC number followed by the desired branch ID (e.g., 3130205839863 KHI005) to the shortcode 8877.
  2. Confirmation: Once the request is processed, the sender receives an SMS containing a unique redemption code, the address of the bank branch, and a specific expiry date for the code.
  3. Collection: To collect the state bank fresh currency notes, individuals must visit the specified branch within two working days of receiving the code. You must bring your original CNIC and a photocopy.

Quota and Availability

Under the 2026 guidelines, each individual is entitled to a specific quota of fresh notes to ensure fair distribution:

  • Rs. 10: Up to 3 packets
  • Rs. 50 & Rs. 100: 1 packet each (subject to availability)

The SBP has already supplied over Rs. 27 billion worth of fresh notes to 17,000 commercial bank branches nationwide. This massive supply aims to discourage the “black market” where people often pay extra charges to unauthorized dealers for new notes.

Important Tips for the General Public

  • One CNIC, One Code: Each mobile number and CNIC can only be used once during the season.
  • ATM Availability: The State Bank has directed all commercial banks to ensure that ATMs remain stocked with clean and fresh currency notes throughout the Eid holidays.
  • Avoid Scams: Only use the official 8877 SMS service. The SBP never asks for your bank PIN or OTP via SMS for currency issuance.
